STEAM LAUNCH BURNT

COLLISION WITH STEAMER. Per Press Association AUCKLAND, July 8. The Union Company’s steamer Wainui collided with and sank the steam launch Iris Eileen, off Rnngitoto Beacon. after leaving for Gisborne last eight. Two men on the launch. Albert Lawrence O’Brien and Raymond Little, jumped into the water, and were picked up by the Waimff’s boats and brought back to Auckland by the Wainui, apparently little the worse. The launch was owned bv O’Brien and his brother, and was valued at about £I2OO.
