The Hon. George Fowlds is visiting Hamilton. Mr G. Baildon, Mayor of Auckland, is at present in Wellington. Mr A. E. Dyson, Town Clerk at South Invercargill, who has been seriously ill for some months, is now making progress towards recovery. Mr S. F. Sherwood, secretary to the Nelson Harbour Board is confined to liis home through illness.' It will be some time before he is able to resume duty. -.Mr J. Macintosh of the staff of Messrs J. G. Ward and Company, who recently left on a trip to Great Britain, arrived at London by s.s. Oscanius on June 2Gth. The Rev. Argyll Saxby, pastor of the Tennyson street Congregational Church, Christchurch, has accepted a call to the Johnson Memorial Church, Fremantle, and is expected to take up his duties early in September. Sir Harry Reichel, chairman of the University Commission at present taking evidence throughout New Zealand, has consented to speak at the Otago University graduation ceremony on July 23rd. Mr A. E. McKinlay, stock inspector at Balclutha for the past four years, has been transferred to Whangarei, North Auckland. Mis successor at Balclutha will be Mr M. F. Findlay, of Kurow. , At a meeting of directors of the Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., held at Hawera, Mr Alex. Hunter, of Hawora, was again appointed chairman; and Mr J. E. Palmer, of Wavorley, was appointed vice-chairman. Mr R. J. Coughlan, formerly officei-in-chargo of the telephone exchange at Auckland, has arrived in Wellington, on transfer to the position of supervisor of the telegraph engineer’s office. Mr Coughlan, three years ago, was officer-in-charge of the telephone exchange at Wellington. Mr George F. Vincent, F.T.C.L., who has been chosen by the Board of Trinity College of Music as the examiner for the college for the South Island this -year, in practical subjects—■ pianoforte, organ, violin, singing, elocution, etc.—is expected to arrive in Wellington on July 9th. He will proceed to Nelson, Blenheim, and Kaikoura, and from the latter place he will go to Christchurch, then on to the West Coast, returning to Christchurch later, where he will spend some time.
