POLICE AND SUMMONS CASES LAW BREAKERS PUNISHED. Polios and summons wises were dealt with by Mr C. R. Orr-Walker, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. For driving a motor-van without a driver’s license Caleb Bird was fined £1 and 7s costs. Joe Richards, on a similar charge, was fined £1 and Os costs, and for negligently driving a motor-lorry was fined £3 with £1 9s costa. Failure to notify change of ownership of motor-cars led to Phillip Earnest Lou r , jnr., being fined £1 and 7s costs, and Magnus Motors. Ltd.. £2 and 19s costs. While working on the roof of the New Commercial Hotel Ernest Judd, a plumber, threw some concrete into the vacant section across the road, and for this offence he was fined ltls and 7s costs. Cyril Henry Clapliam and Stephen Griggs, who pleaded guilty to being on the premises of the Victoria Hotel after hours, were each fined £2 and 7s costs. Dennis Cremins. a barman, of the White Swan Hotel, was fined £3 and 7s costs for supplying Albert Coring with drink after hours, and the latter was fined £1 and 7s costs for being m the premises. The licensee, Mary McGuire. was fined £1 and 7s costs. Patrick McGill pleaded guilty to being on the premises of the Western Park Hotel after hours, and he was fined £1 and IDs costs. Charged with deserting from the Tonic. James Richard Newman, a young trimmer, was sentenced to 14 dnvs’ imprisonment. The Gear Meat Preserving Company. Ltd., who failed to report nil accident at the works, were fined £o and costs. Neglect to notify the inspector that he was making an excavation led to William Murray King being fined £2 ami costs.

Nippert Brothers, who carry on business as painters, were reminded c.f the laws relating to tlie erection of scaffoldings when they were, ordered to pay 7s costs for failing to notify the inspector of a scaffolding they had erected.
