“I am a married man,” was the reason put forward by a trainee at the Palmerston North Magistrate’s l.'mirt for not rendering military service. “Surely that doesn’t make any difference,” remarked the magistrate. Senior-Sergeant O’tlrady said that defendant had not been serving his final year with the Territorials, the principal reason being that he had married too young. A fine of £2, with costa, was imposed.
