FOR CHEAPER BEER
UNUSUAL STRIKE AT HOBART. The main development last week in connection with tho beer strike campaign which had been waged in Hobart and’ suburbs for ten or twelve days was the declaration of one hotel “white” by tho citizens’ committee. Having secured a somewhat large stock of beer, the owner of the hotel, which is a free house, decided that the demands of the strikers could be reasonably met and, .acting on. his own initiative, he declared that he was willing to give 12oz for 6d and 6oz for 3d, which were the' prices requested. _ When this news spread through the city—and it did eo with remarkable rapidity—the scene outside the hotel became a particularly lively one. It was only with the utmost difficulty that anyone could reach the bar at about 5 o’clock, and there, amid a great crowd of “strikers,” it was almost impossible to catoh the bartender’s' eye.
