After nharp opening niecline and notwithstanding numerous withdrawals during the series, competition improved later at the lower level established. v Merino sold better then at opening and though crossbred weakened, bulk of later offerings were 6old. Total quantity available during series was 112,000 bales offerings 71,000 bales were sold, of which 27,000 went to the Home trade and 24,600 to the Continent. 14,C00 bales of New Zealand have ■ been carried forward. Compared with closing rates last series, gopd greasy merino was 10 per cent, lower, inferior 15 per cent, to 20 per cent, lower, crossbred .10 per cent, to lS.iper cent, lower.
