YACHTING
SATURDAY’S RACING. Conditions on the harbour on Saturday afternoon were ideal for yachting. Three events took place under the auspices of the-Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club: tho First-class Club Handicap, Secondclass Club Handicap, and the 18-Foot and under Class Handicap for tho Clarke and Morris trophy. Good entries were received for all three races, and the excellent handicapping kept the boats wpll together >and made the finishes exciting. The First-class Handicap was decided over a 12 mile course, the following yachts competing:—Marangi (scr), Wsirere 11. (91), Ailsa (111), Viola (151), Wanderet (121), Kotiri (lG)'. ■ Wanderer won by Bmin 16sec from Kotiri, which wai 59sec ahead of Viola. Time, lhr 42min 35sec. • Tho-Raweno (ISseo) proved tho winner of the secoftd-jolass handicap by the close margin of Sseo ' from Miru (12sec). -The Wairere (sor) was third, being 2min 46 sec behind the second boat;. The following also competed':—Windward (U), Mana (5), Seabird (16). Time, 2hr 7mm 30sec, over 12 miles. i In the 18-foot and under class, Geisha (5) came in 69Sec ahead of Kewpio (lOsec), which in turn was oho second ahead of All Black (scr). Wellesley (scr), Peggy (IseoV Eynin (6sec), and Claire (6seo) also competed. Claire did not finish. Time, lhr 26min 37sec. The course was sir miles.
