CURZON

GREAT STATESMAN LOST. WARM TRIBUTES PAID. Australian and N.Z. Caible Association. (Received March 22, 6.6 p.m.) LONDON, March 21. Directly the House of Commons met Mr Stanley Baldwin, the Prime Minister, said he was sure the whole House would regret Marquis Curzon’a death. He said ho would move an official motion on Monday. Mr J. H. Ikon as, on behalf of the Labour Party, sympathised with the Cabinet in the loss of a great and loyal colleague. The country, he said, had lost a great statesman. Sir Godfrey Collins paid a tribute on behalf of the Liberals. The newspapers are paying extended and very warm tributes to Marquis Ourzon’s life achievements made under the handicap of a spinal injury. The choice of Marquis Curzon’s successor in the Cabinet is already the subject of conjecture. There is a strong opinion that the Karl of Balfour will be invited to accept. The funeral service will he held in Westminster Abbey on Wednesday, and the interment at Kedleeton on Thursday. > NO FRIEND OF FRANCE PARIS NEWSPAPERS AGREED. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association (Received March 22, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS', March' 21. Though the Press pays a tribute to Marquis Curzon as a great British statesman, all sections agree that he was no friend of France. The Right papers attribute to his inelastic, unadaptable mind most of the post-war friction between Britain and France.
