THE BROWNLIE INCEEXEINT. Mr C. E. Hall writes to the Sydney "Referee’ ’ from Bexhill-on-Sea. Sussex, England, enclosing the following extract from Hie "London Daily Telereport of Mr A. B. Interviewed by the Press Association s representative, (Reg. Edwarcb denied emphatically that he was kicked at any period of the game. He also stated: “I would like the publio to know that Cyril Brownlie did not kick mo any time during the day.’ FRENCH TAKE TO RUGBY. There is nothing Wrong with tb/s Frenoh people’s support of the Rugby Union football, to judge by the follotrIng just to hand from London: — The opening of the French Rugby season was very successful financially. After making allowance for all expenditure incurred up to and including the match with Scotland at Inverleibh (yet to be played), it was. estimated tnat the month’s profits were between 250,000 and 300,000 francs. The takings for the France-Ireland match at Colombes and the two matches against the New Zealanders amounted, respectively, to 263,000 francs, 417,000 francs, and 328,000 francs, making a total of 1,008,000 francs, and for the two All Black matches alone 745,000 francs. Over 100,000 spectators watched the three matches. The cost of the New Zealand tour to the French Bugby Federation was roughly 400.000 franca. To this must he added the percentage of the reoeipts payable to the clubs owning the Stadium at Colomibcs and the Stadium at Toulouse.
