JOY-RIDER IN COURT

YOUNG MAN’S FIFTH OFFENCE. MAXIMUM PENALTY IMPOSED. Yesterday morning at the Magistrate’s Oovfrt. under Mr O. R. OrrWalker, S.M., a young man, Donald Campbell, appeared on the charge of unlawfully putting a motor-car to his own use. Accused; in company with a friend had walked from Wellington to Gisborne, and there they haa secured employment. Before very long, however, they met, took a motor-car, and drove from Gisborne to the Rotorua district. The car waa then left in a garage. Subsequently arrests were made, and as a reßijlt Campbell appeared in the court yesterday on his firth oriminal obarge. On previous charges the man had been dealth with leniently, but had not made the best of his chanoes. A maximum penalty of three months’ hard labour was imposed.
