THE A.S.R.S.
ELECTION OF PRESIDENT. MR R. HAMPTON RETURNED. The ballot papers in connection with the election of president of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants were counted at the head office of the society, , Wellington, yesterday. . The candidates were Messrs R. Hampton, a former president of the A.S.R.S., and M. Connelly, the sitting president. The vote was taken over the whole' of the membership of the A.S.R.S. throughout the Dominion, and the poll was a heavy one. . At a late hour last night the returning officer, Mr W. Nash, announced that Mr Hampton had been elected by a large majority. All the papers are not yet to hand, there being two small returns yet to come, but these figures cannot affect the result* The detailed figures will be published when the complete returns are to 'Land,
