CHILDREN’S GARDEN WORK
A meeting arranged by the Wellington - South Kindergarten Committee was held in Riddiford street last evening, the chairman; Mr Hall Smith, explained the objects of\ the meeting and introduced the speakers, Messrs Robert MeKeen, M.P., John Castle, J.P., and Duncan Campbell, J.P., who stressed the importance of this great work, pointing out that the schools were free to children of any nationality and were strictly undenominational. The 6taff was composed of teachers who made, their work a labour of love, and used by which tbe children were taught to express themselves naturally, and whilst discipline was not rigid, yet the ideas instilled into the young mind? would tend to develop their several individual characteristics, and eventually produce good citizenship. Praifee was tendered to those enthusiastic ladies who had been acting as street collectors during the day and a further appeal was made for a cause that exists very largely on voluntary contributions.
