MISS ETHEL OSBORN

FAMOUS SINGER ENTERTAINED.

Miss Ethel Osborn and the supporting artists of her company, consisting of Madame Marie Borrtian (pianiste), Mr Tom Williams (violinist), and Mr William Hunter (tenor), were the guests of honour at a reoeption giv en by Mrs J. W. Carr and ' Mrs E. Palliser at the Pioneer Club Rooms on Friday afternoon. The opportunity was taken to bid farewell to Miss Osborn, who leaves immediately after her present oouoert tour to gain further experience and perfect her vocal studies in Europe. Short speeches were made by Messrs Palliser and Carr, expressing the keen appreciation by the guests present of this opportunity of bidding farewell to an artist of such remarkable vocal gifts, and prophesying for her a brilliant future. Miss Osborn feelingly replied, and contributed several of her choicest songs, charmingly rendered. Mr Tom Williams and Mr Hunter contributed solos which were keenly appreciated, whilst the accompaniments of Madame Borman were an artistic feature of the Items. .

Mr Hunter, on behalf of Miss Osborn and liis fellow artists, thanked their hostesses for having arranged so pleasant a function on their behalf. The guests included Mr and Mrs M. J. Mrs Oarr. wore bronze moire marocain, and a hat* with wallflowers; Mrs Palliser, navy beaded marocain; Miss Osborn, navy boude silk, embroidered in colours, blue hat; Madame Borman, cinnamon crepe-de-chine with kilted frills of biscuit georgette, brown gold hat. Mr and Mrs Stanley Warwick’s charming little flat was the scene of a party for Miss Ethel Osborn on Friday night. The guests included ’Miss Ethel Oishorn, Madame Borden, Mrs Couchman, Mrs Wallis, Mr, Mrs, and Miss Burt, Miss Simon, Madame Joseph Ottlee, Miss 31. Carson, Mr Williams, Mr Hunter, and Signor Truda. Despite a long train journey and a round of gaiety, Miss Ethel Osborn and her party played and sang to the great delight of their hearers.
