FARMERS AND DROVING FEES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) * , MASTERTOX. January 15. The Mnsterton Swimming Clnb*s 75yd0 race last evening resulted aa follow-C. Hawthorne (2seci 1, J. Hofteius (lOsec) 2* ,L. Wilfiam-s (3sec) 3. ... Mr and Mrs Hugh Morrison, of Masterton. have returned to Xew Zealand after 'a trip to England. Mr H. OrtimmeJin, of the Eketahnna branch of the Bank of Xew South Wales, has been. appointed manager at Danne* virke. ' At a meeting of farmers with representatives of the auctioneers and freezing companies, held at Masterton, it was decided that the droving fees be 30s per day, And that the new agreement should operate until September 30th next. It was moved by Mr Matheson that after September 30th a sliding scale he adopted* the rate of 30s to be the maximum, and 27s 6d when lamb is below JOd per lb. and 25s when below Bd. This was defeated, and an amendment carried that the ouestion of a new agreement affbr September 30th be, left to the Fanners* Unioh executive to deal with prior to September 30th. A recommendation that the Farmers* Union executive deal with the ouestion of the sliding scale mea* tioned was also carried.
