MR ASQUITH

RE-ENTRY TO PARLIAMENT, MR FISHER RESIGNING. (Sydney “Bun”- Cable.) LONDON December 25. The ex-Minister for Education, Mr H. A. L. Fisher, is expected to succeed Dr. Spooner as Warden of New College, at Oxford, thus leaving Mr Asquith an ideal seat in the House of Commons. Mr Fisher since 1918 has been one of the members representing the Combined English Universities (Durham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Bristol, and Birmingham). _ Mr Asquith lost the Paisley seat at the general election. Mr Uoyd George has replaced him, for “the duration of the present session, as leader of the Liberals in the House of Commons, hut Mr Asquith retains the leadership of the party.
