THE WEATHER
MORE RAIN EXPECTED SETTLED WEATHER TTVT.TTCFT.V FOR SEVERAL DAYS. DISTURBING FACTORS, Although there have been intervals of fair weather, stated the acting-Direo-tor of Meteorological Services (Mr B. V. Pemberton) yesterday, conditions have been very changeable, and sinca Christmas Day rain has fallen in many parte of the country, more particularly in the Northern and East Cbast districts. Locally 0.46 inches of rain fell during the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. yesterday, at which hour the air was particularly humid, showing 93 per cent, of saturation. Heavy rain fell at Napier, and yesterday it was raining at Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin. There has been very little wind in Wellington, but other parts have had strong winds from between north-east and south-east. 1 Very few weather reports were received, but the chart yesterday morning showed that a disturbance, mentioned on Wednesday as located a considerable distance to the north-west, is now centred off Gape Egmont, while further to the westward is another “low.”The indications are that unsettled weather is likely to rule. There is little prospect of settled weather for several aays as anti-cydonic pressure is entirely absent within the region covered by the weather chart. The several depressions, however, may to some extent have modifying influences upon each other, but this does not justify the issuing of a forecast of good weather.
