CROWN RESUMPTION ASKED. An unusual matter was submitted to the Warden's Court at Coromandel, in the shape of an application for the resumption . by the Crown for goldmining purposes of 3fc acres of freehold land at Coromandel, known as the Golden Belt, and about seven - acres, part of Endean Acres. '
Mr Burgess, who appeared. for the apSlicant, John Barclay, ’and others, said le land had been applied for and, used by them for three years. They were under the impression it was Crown land and open for mining. They hadi found a gold-bearing \ reef,' and the Iris Company had been registered in Auckland, with a capital of <£sooo. A recent survey showed tho overlap on freehold land. Mr Rice, for Mr John Endean, objected to the ground being resumed, but adt mitted tha#' the land was neither leased nor occupied. The warden adjourned the application to enable Mr Endean to file an affidavit showing what he had done and intended to do with the land in question. When that is received the warden will report to the Minister for Mines. MINE MANAGERS" REPORTS. Ohinemuri.—Tho manager reports that during the fortnight ended 6th inst. the contractors extended the south drive on the hanging wall of the Camoola-reef 48 * fhe total distance southward of: the Silverstream crosscut 1147 feet. T«er contractors have completed 249 feet of their - contract for driving 600 feet To reach a point to correspond with the northern face of No. 2 level, 200 feet above, a further distance of 330 feet requires, to be driven. The present drive is - just m touch with the majn body of quartz. The country at present exposed on the hanging wall is of a most congenial character both for: progress and accompanying values in the ore-body. Waihi Grand! Junction,—The following has been cabled to the head office, Lond*ll =~No. 2 bore hole has been extended on the incline to a depth of 310 feet from No. 10 level. A number of quartz stringers were passed through. Ztehan Consolidated.—The acting man. ager reports that .the contractors have advanced the Paroquet crosscut Bft for S® m good country. New Beef--srt was driven but no quartz broken.
