A HAPPY CHRISTMAS

MAKE IT SO FOR AIL. A PLEA FOR THE BOYS. . A Y.M.C.A. EFFORT. Through no fault of _ their own a number of boys in, Wellington city are living drab, dreary laves in uncongenial surroundings. To them, Christmas—.the time of holidays and giftgiving for most of us—holds no great joy. Their holidays are largely spent m -blie street® where they do no good for themselves or others. “As part of a big campaign scheme for boys, extending over the school holiday period,” explained one of the heads of the association, “the Y.M.C.A. of Wellington proposes holding a special 10 days camp for under-privi-leged boys. What the association wants to do is take a crowd of youngsters who otherwise would not get to camp to its ideal camping site at Haywards and give them a thoroughly good time for ten days. To these boys it will be a veritable God-send to spend ten days under canvas with plenty of out-door games and swimming and the best of rood,. all under the supervision of the association’s iboy work director. “To do this will cost anything up tn £7s—the greater the amount received the larger number of boys it will foe possible to take. “We would like citizens to think of the treat this will fo© to the hoys; think of the satisfaction it will mean to know .that at this gift season they have helped' someone to enjoy a little of the good things of life.” We do hope that something will he done for these lads, otherwise their Christmas frill not be as happy as .the more fortunately placed, whose comfort and happiness are assured. Those who would like, to help are asked to send their contributions or gifts without delay to the general secretary, Y.M.-
