LEVIN’S CLAIMS
HIGH SCHOOL WANTED. ‘ MATTER DEFERRED. ’ The. claims of Levin for a high school were before the Wellington Education Board yesterday, when the Levin School Committee wrote asking that steps should he taken for the establishmentof such an institution. At present the school is’ a “district high school,” and if converted into a high school it will be under a separate authority, with a special secondary staff and its .own Board of Governors. A high school carries on past the matriculation standard. ' Mr C. I. Harkness held that the question was whether the claims of’ Levin should he’included in the board’s scheme - for providing new schools, or whether the board should go on adding to th^school. Mr L. H. Atkins pointed out that at present the Shannon children were journeying by train for their education. The claims of such an important centre as Levin should receive attention thought Mr G. T. London. The board decided to receive the letter, as it was still awaiting particulars.
