Monteith, workers’ representative, became somewhat heated. . „., . •Mt- Hammond: It is o strange thing that the only Conciliation Council proceedings at which we ever hear these general reflections cast on the employers are those in which Mr .Monteith is taking part. Mr Monteith: I was taking part in these proceedings years before you ever started in them. Mr Monteith: I don’t know what'the “perks” are. Mr Hammond: I know one union secretary who has had three motor-cars in two years, . • Mr Monteith: I dan’t know that secretary; he must have been trafficking with the commercial interests. I haven’t been able to get any motorcars out of it.
