Until quit© recently Queen Alexandra used to pay regular visits to Blickling Hall t on old baronial mansion not Tery far from Cromor and Sandringham Many excursions used to bo taken in tho hope of seeing the Queen an such a charming setting and in such an unconventional ■way. Then there is a bungalow on the marshland at Ityc that used to house Dame Clara Butt, while in the l’ttlc village of TVinchelsea, not many miles f.wny, was Ellen Terry, whose lavender gowns end huge lace ruffles were quite a feature of the village. Gladys Cooper u/ed to have a house at Frinton, while Sybil Thorndike, her husband and children, can often he seen enjoying the simple life along the Sussex shores.
