THE BATTLE KNIGHT CASE
BETTORS GET NO RUN FOR. THEIR MONEY. Although Parliament, in the session recently closed, gave authority for the refund of totalisator investments on horses ■which had been withdrawn from races after being weighed out, it seems that racing clubs have not yet been placed in a position to take advantage of this very proper, necessary i.r.d desirable legislation. At the Feilding meeting on Monday Battle Knight was withdrawn from the last race after he had been weighed out, but though the law of tho land says that
the money may be refunded no such action was taken by the club. it may be that the Racing Conference still holds, the clubs to the rule which says that money shall not be refunded after a horse has weighed out, and, if this is the case, it is to be hoped that some means will he found of allowing the dubs to take advantage of the new enactment without awaiting the annual meeting of the Conference in July.
