COUNTY AFFAIRS

MAKARA COUNCIL. ROADS AND MANGAHAO. Presided over by Mr E. Windley, the Makara County Council met yesterday. A letter was received from the Automobile Union asking if steps could not be taken to repair the ParemataPorirua road. The council replied that steps were being taken to have the road placed in good order.’ Improvements are also being carried out on the Tawa FlatPorirua road. The council decided to support the suggestions in regard to the official opening of the Mangahao hydro-electric works. The chairman will officially represent the council, and the hody will contribute towards the cost. The question of payment of royalty to tho Taumarunui County Council was agreed to.
