The first-named led into the straight, and had drawn out dear half-way down the running, whore Ballymoy challenged, and in a good finish just got up in time to win by a head. The Trillion gelding was three lengths further back, third, followed by Gharis, Gold Mint, the Potoa filly, and the Swift Flight filly. Time, 39 2-5 sec. THIRD DIVISION. Master Mind, br g, hv Lucullus— Avon Park (Mrs j. Hughes)— J. O’Shea 1 Samson, oh c, by Absurd—Moira Maohreo (Mr T. Impey)—J. Buchanan 2 Piet (imp.), bra, by Magpie —My» ■ tic Light (Mr J. Williamson) —iH. Goldfinch 3 Also started.—Little Billee (E. Manson), Odd Leaf (Beer), Thurcby (Jones). Master Mind was the first to show out, while Gold leaf was slow to move. Master Mind was first to turn for home, with Samson, and Piet next In the run to the post Master Hind beat Samson easily by three lengths, with Piet two lengths away third Then followed Little Billee and Tirursby together, with Gold Leaf last, Time, 40 4-ssec. It is stated that the namee Samson and Gold Leaf (Limond—Holy rood) have been disallowed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, and other appellations will have to Ipe selected.
