AiTiL DELEGATES RELEASED. EXCEPT MR McADOO’S. Reuter's Telegram. (Received July 7, 7.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 6. Fifteen of the 16 candidates for the' Democratic Party’s Presidential nomination have approved a statement declaring that each has willingly released all the delegates committed l to him as completely as if his name had been withdrawn from the local convention.
Mr William G. McAdoo is the only signatory missing.
AMENDED RULEB FOR GRADUAL ELIMINATION. Reuter’s Telegram. (Received July 7, 8.45 p.m.) NEW YORK, July . 6. Mr McAdoo has accepted the proposal to release his delegates, hut with a proviso substituting a hare majority for the two-thirds majority rule, and the abrogating of the rule that each State delegation shall vote as a .unit. Mr McAdoo stipulated that, with the resumption of voting, the lowest man be dropped! at each ballet, until the nomination is made. He asserted that a practical plan to end the deadlock was essential, irrespective of its effect in individual candidature.
The McAdoo and Smith supporters are both standing firm.
