NEWTOWN CLUB ‘ PAST” AND “PRESENT.** The above annual fixture was held under favourable conditions on Saturday, no fewer than fourteen chibs beiyg represented, and resulted in tho ‘‘Present’' regaining the “ashes” by 107 to 123. During the afternoon Mir Harry Ranson, an ex-president, whose health has prevented him from taking part in the gain© this season, was an interested onlooker and received the felicitations of all present. Two other prominent figures were Mr Jim Kinniburgh, one of the stalwarts of" the club in its infancy, but no.w a member of the Mount Eden Bowling Club, Auckland, and Mr Alec. Campbell, now of the Lower Hutt Club, whose reappearance in the bowling arena after an interval of some years was greeted with pleasure. The following are the scores (present mentioned first); —

AN ENJOYABLE EVENING. After the game a move was made to the club’s social hall which was filled to overflowing, and a very pleasant evening .was spent in speech, song, story and reminiscences. Feeling reference was made to the memories of the late Mr George Noble and the late Mr Bert Manning, both of whom took part m last season’s fixture. Regrets for inability to attend were tendered on behalf of Mr J. J. Roberts, who had to leave town on business, and Mr P. McWhannel, who is on bis way to the Old Country. Mr Kinnifourgh announced, amidst applause, that if notified he would come down from Auckland for next year’s function. Cheer* for the president, Mr C. W. Martin, and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne*’-' brought another successful gathering to a happy conclusion. EASTBOURNE CLUB CITY CHALLENGE CUPThe final match for the City Challenge Cup was played during the weekend, and resulted in a win for the club members Who won four games and drew one of the seven games played. In a happy little speech Mr A. Allen, of the city members, handed over the cup to Mr*Levi, club president, who suitably responded. Three matches have been played thia season for the City Challenge Cup, the first being won by' the club, Hie sec* ond by the city members, and the final game by the club. VICTORIA CLUB. The members of the Victoria Bowling Club spent a very pleasant attern<£n on Saturday, when a progressive rinks tournament was Held, tno proceeds from which are to be the club • donation to the Rndiuin Fund. Fourteen teams competed and a time limit of fifty minutes was allowed for each! winners were Duthie, Collett. Clarke, Polton (s). and the runners-up Edmonds, Mackav, J. Paul, W E. Ohisholm (s). After a keen and exciting struggle, the game was won on the last head by a margin of one. As a- result of the tournament the Radium Fund should benefit to the extent of approximately £25.
