DRAPERS DEPLORE IT. SHOPLIFTING MUST BE' CHECKED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 21. After some discussion the Drapers* Conference carried a resolution in which lenient sentences were criticised, at the eame time calling on the Minister for Justice to investigate these cases, and asking him, in the best interests of the community, to suggest to magistrates that suppression of names is absolutely undesirable if this growing evil of shoplifting is to be checked.
