GIGANTIC POWER GROUPS. LINKING-UP THE NATION. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received Maroh 21, 10.80 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 21. Eleven companies representing capital of 315 million dollars, producing 2800,000 horse-power in the heart of the coal and steel industrial regions, and eerving Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vir* S'nia, West Virginia, and Maryland, ive formed a co-operative concern. This coalfield super “power group,” It ia predicted, will link within a year to the group systems of the Niagara Falls and the New England Southern and Chicago systems. This long stride towards an electric system to embrace the nation is advocated iby Mr Herbert Hoover, Secretary far Commerce, who proposes to retain the independence of the members, and plans to furnish more power and cheaper power. The territory linked by to-day’s compact inoludes 7,250,000 individual consumers.
