CHRISTCHURCH, March 20. The annual ram fair commenced today, when flock rams were offered. There was very keen demand for Corriedale, halfbred, and Southdowns, a large entry of the first-named being totally clearoo English and Border Leiceeters weTe in over supply, and met with a dragging sale, but there was a good clearance at moderate prices. There was only a email entry of Romneys, but they were completed- out of favour, only a few selling at low prices. None of the few Lincolns offered elicited a bid. The following is the range of valnes; English Leiceeters, 2\ to lli guineas: Romneys, 2 to 5 guineas; Corriedales, 3 to 18 guineas; Border Leicesters, to 8 guineas; Shropshire*?, 2£ to 10 guineas; Southdowns, 3| to 12J guineas; halfbTeds, sto loi guineas; merinos, 4to 15 guineas; Kyelands, 3£ to 6 guineas. HOME MARKETS LONDON TALLOW MARKET. The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office, under date March 19th : ‘'Tallow—The demand and prices have weakened. Current quotations: Good mutton, 48s to 48e 6d per cwt; beef, 46s to 465. 6d per cwt; mixed, 46s per cwt; gut, 40s to 42s per cwt." LONDON SALES. . The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date 19th instant: "Tallow.—We quote present spot values /or the following descriptions: Fine mutton, 50s per cwt; good beef, 47s per cwt; piixcd, 42s 9d per cwt. Market inactive." LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house, under date of the 19th instant:—"One thousand one hundred casks tallow offered; 210 sold. The market for mutton tallow is neglected. Since ou rlast report prices are for mixed tallow, good colour, le per cwt lower (present value 46s 6d per cwt); low and inferior descriptions, 2s per cwt lower." HIDES SALES KEEN COMPETITION.
