MAD WITH JEALOUSY
LOVER SHOOTS GIRL. ADELAIDE TRAGEDY. By Telegraph.—Press. Assn.—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Assooiation. ADELAIDE, March 18. A tragedy, in which two young peo pie are implicated, occurred yesterday afternoon when a girl named Hilda Jones, aged 16, was shot dead in the city office where she was employed. A youth named Herbert Neale, aged 19, with whom the girl Jones had been keeping company, was found. outside the office in a fainting condition with a rifle in his hands containing four live cartridges and one discharged cartridge. Neale was later charged with the murder of Hilda Jones. The police allege that be made a statement that he was infatuated with the girl and IwAnifl madly jealous and afraid someone else would get her. He brought a rifle to work on the morning of the shooting. A clerk who worked with Jones said that during the luncheon hour he heard a report, and the sound of a fall, and saw Hilda Jones lying on the floor and Neale holding a smoking rifle. When the police arrived Neale pointed the rifle at them, but they rushed just in time to catch him SS he fainted.
