“POPPY DAY”
ALLOCATION OF FUNDS. UNEMPLOYED RETURNED MEN. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 19. At a meeting of the executive of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association a discussion took place concerning the dispute which has arisen between tht Auckland Association and headquarters regarding the allocation of P6ppy Day funds. It was pointed out that if unemployment is acute amongst returned soldiers during the winter, 80 per cent, of the proceeds of Poppy Day sales could be devoted to the relief of unemployment amongst tho returned men. The following resolution was carried unanimously: “That the Christchurch executive of the Returned Soldiers’ Association warmly approves of the disposal of Poppy if>ay funds as decided by the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association.”
