WATERSIDE WORKERS

AWARD INTERPRETATIONS. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Maroh 19. A short sitting' of the Arbitration Court was held here, when three oases concerning the- watersiders came up for interpretation, viz.:—Men being summoned for work at Oastlecliff at 3.35 a.m-, and turning up and not being required, owing to the vessel being delayed, claimed they were entitled to four hours at double rates, whereas they were actually paid two hours. The other case was whether men working lighters were entitled to the same rates as the special rates provided by clause 3 of the aw&ra. The other dispute was in regard to the interpretation of clauses 23 and 46 in relation to payment for intervening time when men who had worked from midnight were knooked off at 6.16 to 7 a.m. on account of rain. Decision was reserved.
