DOMINION MUSEUM
“URGING” THE GOVERNMENT. “TIME THINGS CAME TO A HEAD.” The need for the provision of a suitable building in which to house the valuable exhibits of the Dominion Museum was discussed by the New Zealand Institute yesterday. Dr. C. C. Farr moved: “That the institute urge the Government to pro oeed at the earliest possible moment with the erection of a suitable building for a Dominion museum in Wei lington.” Masters appeared to be becoming worse, Professor Farr said, and it was time things were brought to a head. Mr H. Hill seconded the motion. Professor 11. W. Segai- observed that as other cities had had to build their own museums he did not see why Wellington should not raise a portion of the cost of the one to be built here. The motion was carried. It was also resolved, on the motion of the Hon. G. M. Thomson, to urge the Government to place the museum in the control of a board of trustees. Mr Thomson said it was hopeless to expect aid from citizens unless the control were taken from the Government.
