RAILWAY HOLD-UP
HENDERSON MOVES CONFERENCES UNDER HIM TO FOLLOW. STRIKERS RETURNING. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received January 23, 8.35 p.m.) LONDON, January 23. Directly ho assumed office Mr Arthur Henderson put himself into official communication with the strike leaders and railway managers. It is expected that meetings under his guidance will be convened without delay. Meanwhile, in consequenoe of the "action of the Locomotives’ Union a conference with the managers is expected to-day. The railway services on most lines have improved. On Tuesday many strikers returned to work. Four Clyde Commoners, determined not to travel home by train, abandoned their intention, but'finally decided to motor. Other Scottish Labourites are taking the boat to Leith.
