WORSER BAY CARNIVAL

HOLIDAY-MAKERS FLOCK TO BEACH. A FINE PROGRAMME. Ideal weather conditions favoured the Worser Bay Swimming and Lifesaving Club’s annual carnival yester- ! day, when several hundred people gathered on the beach to enjoy the varied list of amusements offered them. 'The programme,, a lengthy one, was conducted extremely well by the officials, and all arrangements were admirably in hand by the club secretary, W. E. Lavelle. The programme commenced at 11 a.m. and at 7 p.m. the large crowd was just beginning to break up. Jn the evening a successful dance in the hall concluded a most enjoyable day, .'and it is sure that the many enthusiasts and picknickers who were attracted to the bay this year will lost no opportunity of being there for next year's event. The morning was entirely devoted to life-saving, and particularly meritorious performances were witnessed from the six teams entered.

I Lyall Bay, Maranui, and Worser ; Bay each had two teams in the WabI ler Cup competition. The judges, Messrs J. Duffy, R. Smith, and A Russell, awarded the points as follow. Worser Bay A, 954 points, 1; Lyall Bay A, 92 points, 2; Maranui A, 89J points, 3; Lyall Bay B, 854 points, 4; Worser Bay B, 814 points, 5; Maranui B, 804 points, 6. The cup has been competed for on six previous occasions and has been annexed by Worser Bay twice. Previous winners were: Maranui A 1920. Lyall Bay 1921, Maranui B 1922, Worser Bay 1923.
