“WHY DID SHE LEAVE?”
A QUERY IN DIVORCE. (9pecial to “New Zealand Times.”) AUCKLAND, December 19. ‘‘Why did your wife leave you?” asked Mr Justice Herdman, of petitioner, in a divorce action before the Hamilton Supreme Court, of Herbert Gordon Bloomfield, farmer, of Morrinavillte. Petitioner: Urn? His Honour: Why did she leave youP ■ —“Because she was going about with other blokes,” answered petitioner. His Honour: But did she leave you or you her? Petitioner: Um? His Honour repeated the question. Petitioner: Oh, we mutually agreed to separate. Petitioner added that they married in June, 1914, and parted in December of the same year. They had not lived together since, hut his wife had a child to another man in 1917. His Honour: You could have proceeded on the grounds of adultery. Have you allowed your wife any maintenance since you parted? Petitioner: UmP His Honour: Don’t say um! Petitioner: No. A decree nisi was granted.
