LIQUOR POLL IN N.S.W.

PROHIBITIONISTS ANGRY. “A PITIABLE BILL.” By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. SYDNEY, December 18. In the State Assembly l the Liquor Bill passed it’s third reading. Several efforts to alter the date of the referendum were defeated by two to one majorities. Archdeacon Boyce, referring to the bill, says that there will only be sadness among the prohibitionists over the bill. The excuse for postponing the referendum till 1928 is a lame one. The bill is worse than worthless; it is pitiable ; it' refuses to trust the people with the vote, and deprives them of their rights. It is likely to throw prohibition back several years. He protests strongly against the bill being proceeded with further.
