"' VICTORIES OF PEACE. AWARDS PRESENTED BY MAYOR. Several men who had gained awards from the Royal Life-Saving Society for rescues made appeared in the council chamber last evening to have these presented to them by the Mayor. Mr R. A. Wright congratulated those ooncerned on the gallantry which they had displayed, and expressed his pleasure at being asked to make the presentation. One of the men was Charles Langdown, who has saved over a 6Core of people. Mr T. Shields, of the Royal LifeSaving Society, received the letter of commendation of Charles Keating, who was absent from Wellington. The names of the recipients and their awards are as follow: Charles E. Keating, of Queen street, Wellington-: Letter of commendation for rescuing Isabel Russell from drowning at Queen’s yWharf, Wellington, on February 18th, 1920. Charles Lausdown, of Wellington: Certificate for rescuing William Price from drowning at Wellington on September 12th, 1920. Leslie J. Forsyth, of Lower Hutt: Bronze medal for rescuing M. Holland from drowning at Lower Hutt on March sth, 1921.
