" A CRYING SHAME ”
LACK OF DRESSING SHEDS. PROTEST AT CITY COUNCIL. "It is a crying shame,” said Councilloi W. A. Parton at last night's meeting of the City Council, referring to the lack of dressing-shed accommodation on city beaches. "Here December is nearly over and nothing has been done.” He ox pressed indignation at the fact that a motion which, he had brought up in the past for the erection of a shed had been defeated. "I somewhat endorse the remarks of the last speaker,” said Councillor J. Aston, "but I think that the urgent need is for conveniences.” "This is all very well, but nobody has suggested how we are coing to erect the sheds.” said Councillor B. G. H. Burn, who was of the ponion that if such a matter came before the finance committee those now supporting the construction of the buildings would he the first to vote it out on the grounds of economy. "I believe that the council could get a very good revenue at Day’s Bay from the provision of sheds,” said Councillor 3. Thomson, chairman of the reserves committee, who thought that an amount should he placed upon next year’s estimates for the erection of dressing sheds at Day's Bay at least. The matter then dropped.
