RADIUM WORKERS
WANTED ON FRIDAY. GREAT CHRISTMAS “DRIVE.” The Radium (Radiation) Appeal Committee’s great pre-Christmas “drive” for subscriptions—a special canvass and collection to he held on Friday next—cannot he carried out in its entirety without plenty of workers, and as the response to the appeal for volunteers has not been very great, the committee renews it, and hopes that those who are willing will send their names at once to the secretary, Mr G. Mitchell, Exchange Buildings, Dominion avenue, off Lambton quay. An alternative is to attend' the regular meeting of the committee to he held in the Mayor’s room, Town Hall, at 7.30 this evening. If everybody’s business is allowed to become nobody’s business, it will not be easy to “get things done.”
The Mayor, Mr R. A. Wright, appeals to citizens to provide flowers for Friday’s “drive.” Citizens willing to give flowers should communicate with the Town Clerk, who will make arrangements. The municipal reserves and public gardens will contribute such flowers as can be spared. In two days Levin has collected over £SO. At Lower Hutt, where Mrs Vivian Riddiford heads the list with £l5O, there is promise of a good collection.
