A RELC OF CORTEZ

In the etoragt rooms of the Etlino* graphic Museum, in Vienna, old treasures have been discovered, among them being an old Mexican banner, which is declared to date hack to the time of Montezuma, and was probably among the trophies which Cortez sent to diaries V. The banner has the form of a large, outspread tan, and at the same time imitates the shape of a bird with outspread wings. The chief part consists of the breast feathers, ehining green-golden, and a kind of hummingbird sacred to the Aztecs. For sum plume-work no lees than 459 breastsrdrins of that little bird were necessary, [t is said to be th 6 only banner of tho kind that remains.
