"A POSITION OF TRUST”

AN EMPLOYEE’S THEFT.

MEN SENT TO GAOL. “These thefts have extended over a considerable period and have been systematically carried out,” declared Mr E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Const yesterday, in reference to the offences of two men, Albert Patrick Mcßride, aged 42, and Phillip Herbert Ogier. aged 61, who pleaded guilty to the theft from B. L. Hart and Company, Ltd., of a quantity of mattress cases, twine, and tufts, valued at £3O, and who yesterday made an appearance for sentence. The magistrate remarked that ths question of probation would not be considered in this case. One of the men had been in a position of trust as an employee of the firm, and the other, Mcßride, was a business man who had conspired with Ogier. A term of imprisonment would therefore have to be imposed. Each of the accused was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
