General Sir Charles Harington, with ISOO men of the Coldstream and Grenadier Guards, was stirringly welcomed on arrival from Constantinople. General Harington, at a civic welcome at Southampton, said: “We left Turkey respected by' all, after steering through many difficulties. We left with the English flag never higher. Hi© credit for it belongs not to me but to the splendid forces under my command. lam hopeful for tho future of Turkey. I believe that the old relations we re-established, and the respect under which we left, will be helpful to British interests. 1 am confident that our graves on Turkish soil will he respected.”
