A concert in aid of the playground fund of the Lyall Bay school was given in the Kilbirnie Hall last evening. The hall had been jnettily decorated, and was crowded with an audience of pupils and their relatives and friends. The first portion of the programme was contributed by the pupils. The following were the items and the performers:—Huntsman’s ohorus, senior ohoir; piano duet, Marie Davidson; solo, Mary Heweon; recitation, “The Lad from Inverness,” Muriel Aitcheson; song, “The Three Kittens,” junior infants; song, “Jemina,” Irene Wilson chorus, “When Icicles Hang,” junior choir; recitation, “Aunt Jane,” Louis Clay: song, “Lullaby,” senior primers; solo, “Dutch lullaby,” Freda Basin; recitation, “What I Do,” Iris Tonka; danoe duo, Edna and Marjory Raven; “O Hush Thee My Baby” and “Lasses and Lads,” senior choir. Part two was arranged by Mr E. Palliser, and comprised '■ —Song, own aelection, Miss Violet Reith; songs, “Come to the Fair,” and “The Yeoman of England,” Mr Aleo Murray -and a comedy, “Two Families in One House,” staged by Mr A.
