TELEPHONE CHARGES
DECREASE OF SUBSCRIBERS. P»r Press Association. DUNEDIN, October 11. In reply to a query whether the increased telephone charges had not caused a loss of subscribers, the district telegraph engineer stated that at the end of the last four-monthly period 118 subscribers had discontinued, but after each such period there were about 40 such discontinuances, so that at most only 80 could be ascribed to the charges. On the other hand, the department still had on the waiting list forty, with indications that it would grow.
