EVADING THE CUSTOMS
MAN FINED £25 AT AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 6. A fine of £25 for failing to truly answer questions concerning his luggage, as required by the Customs Act, was imposed on James Jackson, a retired contractor, of Whangarei. The evidence showed that the defendant “declared” certain * articles, hut ether dutiable goods were found in another trunk. The defence was that he did not know the goods concerned were dutiable.
