Mr Dunkley stated that permission had been obtained from the Minister of Internal Affairs to hold art unions.
Tlie question of Sunday concerts was mentioned, and the chairman (Mr Brandon) pointed out that the sanction of the council would first have to be obtained.
Mr Dunkley suggested that part of the money raised be given for the relief of sufferers by flood in the South Island, and eventually moved that 25 per' cent, of the net proceeds be donated.
Messrs Eddy and Percival stated that they could not deviate from their original intention, viz., raising money for the improvement of the domain, while Mr Ley thought it advisable to go on with tho carnival, and afterwards, see what could bo done.
It wag generally agreed that Mr Dunkley’s suggestion was a good one, but in view of action already taken it was decided to do nothing for the South Island sufferers in tho meantime.
