RAILWAY IMPROVEMENTS

MR MoVILLY PROMISES CONSID- . ERATION. Per Press Association. ASHboRTON, April 17. Mr McVilly received a deputation today, and promised to consider the improvement of the Wednesday service to enable farmers to attend the Addington market; also the speeding up of slow trains generally, particularly the ‘morning train to Timaru and Ashburton, and various local matters. Concerning hells at level crossings, Mr MoVilly said that owing to the peculiar situation of Tailored street crossing, the bell would ring when riot required, and thus mislead people. The department was always glad to render crossings, safer, but. most accidents were the result of recklessness by-motorists. Instead of blaming the railways' they should join in educating the people to be careful. ,
