SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP

FELTON ARRIVES: TO ROAY HANNON. Alfred Folton, ex-championship world’s sculler, arrived at Wellington by the Marama yesterday from Sydney, en route to Nelson, where he is to row “Paddy” Hannan, of Blenheim, for the professional sculling title of New Zealand. Felton, who is 33 years of age, and a native of Sydney, visited New Zealand previously in 1909, when, he won the Foxton Handicap on the Manawatu river. In October, 1919, he' beat .Ernest Barry for the world’s championship on the Thames, in the presence of 120,600 spectators. In August, 1920, Barry recovered the championship from Felton on the Parramatta river. Since then Felton has competed in several large handicap races 'in Australia. His present raoe is expected to take place during the first week in May. He has .already done five weeks training, and expects to row about 13 stone. His skiff, "Peace Loan,” so named because it was used in launching the "Diggers’ Peace Loan” in Australia, also came by the Marama. Felton proceeded to Nelson by the Ngaio last night.
