GREAT UPHEAVAL
SERIOUS DAMAGE IN HAWAII GUAM CABLE BROKEN. Australian and N.Z. Gable Association (Received February 5, 8.25 p.m.) , NEW YORK, Februaiy 5. ( Further reports in regard to yesteiday T s earth disturbances strengthen the belief that the greatest upheaval ever recorded occurred in the bed of the Pacific. Honolulu dispatches state that Suo suffered the greatest damage, probably 1,500,000 dollars. Wharves and railway bridges were destroyed, and several large liners suffered small damage. Pago Pago reported that no shock wos felt in Samoa. The United States-Guam cable wm hroken, but it is believed that Guam did not suffer. Hawaiian seismographs registered further shocks, estimated to be many miles distant. IN ALEUTIAN ISLANHS RECORD IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —CopyrighA. SYDNEY, February 5. (Received February 6, 12.35 a.m.) LONDON, February 4. A great earthquake shock was telt nt Birmingham. The seismograph needle was violently thrown off the instrument repeatedly: also the Florence seismograph. The shocks lasted five hours.
